The Collier Pair
Coal Tender & Hopper Car

The tender rides directly behind the locomotive and carries its coal. Ours is filled with rounded walnut offcuts, tumbled smooth in the same drum we use to break the edges on the wheels — nothing in the box that wasn't already in the shop.
The hopper beside it has the slanted sides of the real thing and an open top, which is the whole point: it gets loaded with acorns, marbles, breakfast cereal and whatever else is within reach.
The two are sold coupled because they belong together.

Recommended for ages three and up. These pieces contain small parts and are not intended for children under three. Finished in a plant-based, food-safe hardwax oil with no lacquer or polyurethane. Wipe clean with a damp cloth — never submerge, and never put it in a dishwasher.
